Validation of retrospective unemployment information in SHARELIFE

We aim to assess the quality of retrospective reports of SHARELIFE respondents regarding times of unemployment during their lives. Phases of unemplyment can have different effects on outcomes in later life (financial situation, retirement behaviour, health). Prior to such analyses, it is important to evaluate the internal validity of retrospective information on unemployment. By using SHARE-RV data we are able to compare individual responses with administrative data and provide evidence on the quality of the unemployment spells.
