As the European population ages, there is growing pressure to find ways to prevent cognitive impairment. The research group “cognition” studies neurobiological correlates of cognitive aging through a variety of methods, from molecular imaging to population-based surveys. Our overall aim is to identify modifiable factors, both biological and lifestyle, that may present viable targets for interventions.
The group is divided across two institutions. All brain imaging research is done in Sweden in collaboration with the Umeå Center for Functional Brain Imaging.
At the MPI for Social Law and Social Policy, we study biological and lifestyle correlates of memory decline in SHARE (Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe), in close collaboration with the biomarker group and HCAP.
The research group is supported by an ERC Starting Grant from the European Commission.
