SHARE accelerometry research

In SHARE wave 8, thig-worn accelerometers were used to measure physical activity in a sub-sample of respondents in ten countries. These data can be combined with the information from the SHARE database to investigate a range of reseach questions . Besides exploring the social and health related correlates of high and low activity, the data can be used to investigate methodological research questions.

Projects started:

  • Device-based physical activity and late-life depression: An analysis of influential factors using SHARE data (under review in Journal of Affective Disorders) [Franzese]
  • Determinants of consent in the SHARE accelerometer study (working paper published) [Bergmann, Franzese]

  • Device measured physical activity of older Europeans. The SHARE accelerometer study (in preparation) [Börsch-Supan, Scherpenzeel, Khourshed, Franzese]

  • The association between objectively measured physical activity and health-related quality of life in older European adults (in preparation) [Thumann, Franzese]
