Health in Diversity, Diversity in Health? 2nd South-East-African and European Conference on Refugees and Forced Migrants

The so-called "refugee crisis" has been a long-running issue in the international political debate since 2015. The public discourse in Europe often focuses on the effects of refugee movements on Europe and largely ignores similar developments in other countries as well as the situation in the countries of origin. It often presents forced migration only as a question of security policy and ignores the influence of social diversity on health, quality of life and well-being both in Africa and in Europe. The conference therefore aims to close these gaps by providing an interdisciplinary perspective on the links between refugees, diversity and health, including health policy, socio-political frameworks, environmental factors, the situation in refugee camps, quality of life approaches and economic perspectives. In order to open up the often Eurocentric scientific discourse on refugees and migration internationally, each topic is dealt with by European and African scholars.
