This lecture elavorates and reflects on three key governance channels that have shaped the fiscal and social space of Europe: relvant legislation linked to the Social Pillar, EU funding and the socio-economic governance of the EU.

Exploring first achievements along each of these governance channeks during the period 2019-2024, the lecture then asks how to characterize what has happened since then. It suggests that this contrast reveals the possibilities and limits for Social Europe.
